$10,000 to-win 59th Anniversary Classic Hagerstown up Next on MACS Schedule

Saturday, May 27 marks the 59th Anniversary Classic at Frank Plessinger’s Hagerstown Speedway, Hagerstown, Maryland which is the next stop for the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series. This show is a complete one-day MACS event featuring the AFCO Racing Products “Shock the Clock” time trails presented by Sue Stevenson Photography, qualifying heats, the Malcuit Racing Engines “Dash King” competition presented by Wild Side Custom Racing Trailers, the Sunoco Race Fuels B main presented by Bazell Oil, as well as the Goddard Performance Parts B Main presented by Warrior Rae Cars climaxing with the $10,000 to-win 59th Anniversary spectacular.

This 59-lap event carries a $52,000 total purse and prize money. The winner isn’t the only happy driver at events end as sixth place earns $2,000 with $1,000 going to fourteenth and $700 to-start. All drivers failing to transfer from the B Mains will earn $200.00 tow money.

Hagerstown Speedway 59th Anniversary Classic 59 Laps: 1.) $10,000; 2.) $6,000; 3.) $3,500; 4.) $2,500; 5. ) $2,200; 6.) $2,000; 7.) $1,500; 8.) $1,250; 9.) $1,150; 10.) $1,100; 11.) $1,075; 12.) $1,050; 13.) $1,025; 14.) $1,000; 15.) $900 16.) $800; 17.) $700; 18.) $700; 19.) $700; 20.) $700; 21.) $700; 22.) $700; 23.) $700; 24.) $700. All Cars failing to transfer to the “A” Main will receive $200 tow money.

Leading the Series contingent will be Mike Balzano, Parkersburg, WV, the defending Champion, as well as Robbie Blair, 2004 Champion. Also anticipated are “Hot Rod” Rod Conley, Jim Bernheisel, 2005 ASI Racewear Hard Charger champion; 2005 WRISCO Aluminum MACS ROY Devin Friese; Alex Ferree, Mike Johnson, Dutch Davies, Bob Close; The Gypsum Express team of Jeff Fuller and Tim Decker; 2002 Series Champion, Jack Pencil; plus ten WRISCO Aluminum MACS Rookie contenders including: current leader, Nick Dickson (PA); Lance Elson (WV); George Kowatic (PA); Ben, Dave and Gregg Satterlee (PA); Scott LeBarron; B.A. Malcuit (OH); D.J. Miller (OH); Keith Page (OH); and Waylon Wagner (PA).

Also Gary Stuhler, currently leading the MACS points chase is slated along with Jason Covert, plus the host of Hagerstown regulars including current point leader Brent Smith, plus Alan Brannon, Frankie Plessinger, Ronnie DeHaven, Roy Deese, Jr., Billy Wampler, Alan Sagi, D.J. Troutman, Ray Kable, Brain Booze and Jeremy Miller.

The Series has been scheduled to present ten events at Hagerstown since it’s very first in April of 1999. The last winner of an event that successfully beat the weather was Robbie Blair as well as twin 25’s winner of Rick Eckert and Randall Chupp (05); Andy Anderson (‘01) followed by Chub Frank and Jeremy Miller (’00); Gary Stuhler and Mike Balzano (‘99). Mother Nature has captured as four events over the history of the Series and the Speedway including one each in ’04, ‘01, ’00, ’99. MACS average car count per event at “The Capitol” is 48.
