$120,000 Up For Grabs For MACS’ Block Buster Labor Day Weekend at Lernerville and Portsmouth |

The Mid-Atlantic Championship Series presents a huge $120,000 Labor Day weekend beginning at DIRT Motorsports’ Lernerville Speedway, on Friday, September 1 and concluding with a two night stand at the Coleman families’ Portsmouth Raceway Park, on Saturday and Sunday September 2 & 3.
Lernerville, under the Directorship of Gary Risch, Jr. and Sr., kick-off the high octane weekend at Don Martin’s ½ mile, semi-banked facility in Sarver, PA for the “Larry Peters Memorial”. The program will be a $5,000 to-win show featuring a minimum purse of $31,500 total purse.
Previous MACS winners at Lernerville include: Chub Frank and Mike Balzano (05’); Frank (‘04); Alex Ferree (‘03); David Scott (‘02); and Mike Blose (‘01). The average car count at these events has been 48. Also appearing on the card will be a non-sanctioned, 410 sprint car event in memory of Sonia Bullis as well as the Advance Auto Parts Pure Stocks.

Gates open at 5:00 p.m.; a MACS driver meeting is at 6:15 with hot laps to follow. Time Trials will begin at 7:00 p.m. with racing immediately following. General Admission prices are: $20 for 17 years & above; Senior Citizen’s $18.00; 11 thru 16 years $12; 10 and under FREE; reserved seating is an additional $2.00. The MACS troubadours head southwest the next night to Portsmouth Raceway Park for the first of two nights. Tim Coleman and crew always have their family owned facility in immaculate condition. PRP is a spacious 3/8 mile, high-banked clay oval that sits along the Ohio River in historic Portsmouth. Saturday’s “Rumble on the River 50” pays $5,000 to-win from minimum $31,500 purse. Also on the card are the Modifieds (E-Mods) and Bomber’s.

Sunday dawns day two of the PRP weekend featuring another complete MACS show that will climax with the “PEPSI 75” paying $10,000 to-win from the $53,000 purse. Also appearing will be the Limited Late Models and Modifieds (E-Mods). Also at 5:15-6:00 p.m. will be a MACS Late Model driver autograph session behind the main grandstand area toward the turn one side of the speedway.

Each MACS event will consist of AFCO Racing Products “Shock the Clock” time trials presented by Sue Stevenson Photography, Malcuit Racing Engines “Dash King” competition presented by Wild Side Custom Racing Trailers; heats are presented by Bud Watson’s W&W Racing Supply/Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic and Hoosier Racing Tires; Lias Tire Racing Division/American Racer; Dave Poske Performance Parts and Rocket Chassis; ATL Fuel Cells and BERT Transmission; Mason Racin’ and GRT Chassis; Frankland Racing Supply and American Die Cast; King’s Jewelry/Artcarved; Pietragallo, Bosick & Gordon, LLC, Attorney’s at Law and Design 500 Racewear; and the Sunoco Race Fuels 1st B Main presented by Bazell Oil as well as the Warrior Race Cars 2nd B Main presented by Goddard Performance Parts. Additionally, the WRISCO Aluminum MACS ROY chase will determine the ROY title. Other sponsor included G&L Racing Supplies and Country Candles. The A Main ASI “Hard Charger” will receive a $100 Gift certificate from ASI Sportswear.
Chase Decals is providing a $100 gift certificate per event for the “Hard Luck” Award. Impact Graphics will be providing $100 gift certificate for the “Quick Time Award” and if that same driver that sets fast time is able to win that night’s feature s/he will earn an additional $100 gift certificate. Simpson Racing Products will provide the WRISCO Aluminum MACS ROY with a helmet of his choice; Booze Race Products will provide the 2006 MACS Champion with a gift certificate for $300 toward a new helmet; Alturnamats will be providing one of the drivers in the top ten with a new set of mats valued at $750.00; Chase, Impact, Duralite Wheels, ACPT Carbon Fiber Drive Shafts, Ron “Flea” Fleenor’s Custom Helmet Art will all provide special prizes and gifts to selected drivers in the final driver top ten of points.
