MACS Sanctioned 32nd Annual Hub-City at Hagerstown Cometh With a Whopping $90,000 Purse |

Friday and Saturday, September 22 & 23, marks the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series sanctioned 32nd Annual Hub-City National weekend at Frank Plessinger’s Hagerstown Speedway, Hagerstown, Maryland. This year’s rendition could see one driver walking away with $13,000 from the whopping $90,000 total purse.
Friday’s actions will provide AFCO Racing Products “Shock the Clock” time trails presented by Sue Stevenson Photography, plus qualifying heats, and the King’s Jewelry “Last Chance Race” presented by ARTCARVED.
Saturday will feature two Malcuit Race Engines Dash King competitions presented by Wild Side Custom Racing Trailers establishing the top six rows for each of the twin-50 preliminary features. They will each contain twelve cars for 12-laps. Each of the twin-50 preliminary qualifying races will start 26 cars each.
The final 50 lap feature will see the top 12 cars from the first 5 lapper starting on the inside rail while the top 12 cars from the second 50-lap feature will man the outside. Positions 25, 26, and 27 will be comprised of MACS and Hagerstown provisionals respectively.

All cars failing to transfer from the King’s Jewelry “Last Chance” race presented by ARTCARVED will receive $150 tow money.

Leading the Series contingent will be Mike Balzano, Parkersburg, WV, defending Champion as well as current points leader, in addition to ‘04 Champion Robbie Blair, and ’97-‘98 Champion Denny Chamberlain. Also anticipated are Jeremy Miller, one of the hottest guys on the tour plus Racin’ Jason Covert, “Hot Rod” Rod Conley, ‘05 ASI Racewear Hard charger Champion, Jim Bernheisel; ‘05 WRISCO Aluminum MACS ROY Devin Friese; ‘02 Series Champion, Jack Pencil; Steve Shaver; plus WRISCO Aluminum MACS Rookie contenders including: current leader, Nick Dickson (PA) and Scott LeBarron.
Hagerstown boosts a strong local contingent including current point leader Roy Deese, Jr. plus Ronnie DeHaven, Jr., Billy Wampler, Alan Sagi, Frankie Plessinger, Bo Feathers, Brain Booze, Andy Anderson, Mike Lupfer, Gary Stuhler, and Nathan Durboraw.

The Series has been scheduled to present eleven events at Hagerstown since it’s very first in April of 1999. The last winner of an event was Jeremy Miller, in May 2006. Robbie Blair won the 24th Annual Conococheague in 2005 as well as twin 25’s winner of Rick Eckert and Randall Chupp; Andy Anderson (‘01) followed by Chub Frank and Jeremy Miller (’00); Gary Stuhler and Mike Balzano (‘99). Mother Nature has captured four events over the history of the Series and the Speedway including one each in ’04, ‘01, ’00, ’99. MACS average car count per event at “The Capitol” is 48.
