Light, Camera, and Action for MACS’ Fall Fest XII October 13-15 at Challenger Raceway

Fall Fest XII arrives in approximately two short weeks as the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series marches back into Jack and Donna Lentz’s Challenger Raceway, Indiana, PA, for one of the biggest and richest Late Model extravaganzas east of the Mississippi. Mark your calendars for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, October 13, 14, & 15 for this prestigious event.

The weekend kicks off early this year with Australian National Late Model Champion Craig Vosbergen and Wooster, Ohio’s, Doug Drown conducting a press conference as well as signing autographs at the Indiana Mall on Thursday evening, October 12. Craig will also have his flyin’ #8 on display throughout the day. The press conference begins at 5:30 p.m. with the autograph session beginning at 6:30 p.m. and concluding at 8:30 p.m. Each driver will have apparel and other memorial available for purchase and to be signed.

Friday, October 13, Challenger will present a non-sanctioned, pill-draw event paying $4,000 to-win for 40-laps serving as a tune-up for the rest of the huge weekend. Also on Friday’s card are practice sessions, interspersed between the Late Model events, for the Team USA Modified Lites, E-Mods, Pro Streets and Strictly Stocks. Gates open Friday night at 5:00 p.m. with hot laps at 6:45 with racing to follow at 7:30 p.m. General admission pricing: 16 years old and up is $20; 12-15 $10, 5-11 $5 and under 5 if FREE; with pits passes being $25.00.

Saturday and Sunday is a two-day show format for the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series at Challenger featuring on Saturday the AFCO “Shock the Clock” Time Trials presented by Sue Stevenson Photography. This event will carry a $100 gift certificate from Impact Graphics as well as a $200 gift certificate from Mike Farr and Lutz from Genesis Shocks for the fast qualifier. Eight qualifying heats are slated as well as the F and E Mains. Calling the MACS Series action on Saturday and Sunday is western Pennsylvania’s most notable racing announcer Dow Carnahan.

Saturday is climaxed by the Indiana County Tourist Bureaus (ICTB) “Sweet 16 King of the Hill” presented by Northeast Locators Auto Sales, Lias Tire Racing Division, and Bud Watson W & W Racing Supplies/Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. This event is a single elimination bracket event pitting the top16 cars from the heats that are in Sunday’s 75-lap Fall Fest against each other in one-on-one match races for 3 laps per bracket. The winner moves to the next round and the loser is eliminated from the competition. The ICTB “King of the Hill” will receive $3,000 for his or her efforts while the runner-up pockets $1,000; 3-4 $250; 5-8 $100; 9-18 $50.00

Also on Saturday’s card will be the Team USA Modified Lites, E-Mod, Pro Streets, and Strictly Stock heat events. Gates open Saturday at Noon with hot laps at 2:30 with racing to follow time trials. General admission pricing: 16 years old and up is $20; 12-15 $10, 5-11 $5 and under 5 if FREE; with pits passes also being $25.00

Sunday’s show will be the first-ever, television production for both the Series and Challenger Raceway with Viewpoint Motorsports handling the filming and production which can be seen on a tape delayed basis on FOX Sports NET (Pittsburgh) region as well as Comcast Video On Demand (VOD) in addition to Comast’s CN8. Exact air dates and time will be announced as soon as they become available. The Indiana County Tourist Bureau is making this telecast possible through a grant to the Series which aided in subsidizing this television effort to reach 3 million viewers.

Sunday also features a MACS driver’s autograph session is slated for 12:45 – 1:30 p.m. for fans to meet and greet their favorite Late Model drivers. Also participating will be Aussie National Late Model Champion Craig Vosbergen and Doug Drown.

Sunday’s card includes the MACS 20-lap, King’s Jewelry, D Main, presented by ARTCARVED, and Goddard Performance 20-lap C Main presented by Warrior Race Cars, as well as the, Malcuit Racing Engines Dash King competition presented by WildSide Custom Racing Trailers, in addition to the 25-lap Sunoco Racing Fuels B Main presented by Bazell Oil. The MACS segment of the program concludes with the 75-lap, Fall Fest XII, paying $20,000 to-win and $1,500 to start presented by the Indiana County Tourist Bureau.

Sunday’s B Main $250.00 is awarded to all cars that don’t advance; C Main $225.00 to all cars that don’t advance; D Main $200.00 to all cars that don’t advance; Saturday’s E Main $175.00 to all cars that don’t advance; F Main $150.00 to all cars that don’t advance.

The Team USA Modified Lites pays $1,000 to-win; E-Mods $1,200 to-win; Pro Streets $1,000 to-win; and Strictly Stocks earn $300 to win for their events. Mother Nature was the big winner last year claiming the initial three nights of the Fall Fest XI and two of the three nights two weeks later during the rain date weekend. Davey Johnson stole one night claiming the lone win for the event that spanned two weekends six days.

Chase Decals is providing a $100 gift certificate per event for the “Hard Luck” Award. Impact Graphics will be providing $100 gift certificate for the “Quick Time Award” and if that same driver that sets fast time is able to win that night’s feature s/he will earn an additional $100 gift certificate. Chase, Impact, Duralite Wheels, ACPT Carbon Fiber Drive Shafts, Genesis Shocks and Ron “Flea” Fleenor’s Custom Helmet Art will all provide special prizes and gifts to selected drivers in the final driver top ten of points.
