MACS Facts:
The total awards packages are reflective of the posted awards and not necessarily the exact amount the driver received. According to Series rules, to receive the full posted awards (cash, prizes, contingencies and bonuses) a driver must participate in at least 90% of the shows as well as be present at the banquet. Those drivers not meeting that criterion will have their earnings prorated and/or completely reduced according to the prescribed rules and procedures. The total posted cash, prizes, and awards for the 2006 season is $134,679.00 which is up over $34,229 from 2005. This represents one of the milestones in Series history. Ten years ago when the Geesey Brother’s assumed the NEWS Series the point fund was non-existent. The first year the Series paid out a humble $20,000 in cash and prizes. In the next nine years that total has steadily risen. That phenomenon is all attributed to the drivers and owners, sponsors host facilities, fans, and media.

Jason with this title now adds his name to the list of Series Champions including Chamberlain (‘97- ‘98), Lynn Geisler (‘99-‘00), Mike Blose (‘01), Pencil (’02), Chuck Harper (‘03), Robbie Blair (’04), and Balzano in 2005.

The average number of drivers participating per event was 49, which is up 6 drivers per event over 2005. The highest car count for the past season was at Fall Fest with 78 while the low was 35.

Thirteen different winners visited victory lane from the 18, 50 lap events presented plus the two preliminary races which represents 65% of the time a different driver sat in victory lane. They included:

Andy Anderson (Hagerstown (MD)
Mike Balzano (Tyler County (WV)
Rob Blair (Sharon (OH)
Scott Bloomquist (Portsmouth Raceway Park (OH)
Jason Covert (Hesston)
