Former two-time Mid-Atlantic Championship Series Champion, as well as Ernie Shelton USA100® winner, Denny Chamberlain, Lost Creek, WV, is recovering after open heart surgery today at Ruby Hospital in Morgantown, WV. According to a team source, Chamberlain underwent triple by-pass surgery early Sunday morning on three significantly blocked arteries. Chamberlain is expected to spend a few days in the hospital and return home later in the week to finish his convalescence.
Chamberlain who competed with the Series in 2006 posting a strong ninth place finish is already quizzing his doctors as to his potential time line for returning behind the wheel of his familiar #31 MasterSbilt Grand Prix. Preliminary indications from his medical team indicate that Chamberlain may return to the dirt track wars as soon as eight weeks depending upon his progress during his recovery.
The Lost Creek Express is powered by a 415 Sprout Chevrolet with Genesis shocks and Hoosier Tires mounted on all four corners and is supported by DC Racing, DC General Store, Polino Contracting, PPM Racing Products, HTD Tool Development, Acceleration Machine, VP Racing Fuels, Hoosier Tires and Francis Engineering.
