MACS’ Huge 100K Memorial Day Weekend at Three Tracks in Two States |

The Mid-Atlantic Championship Series finally swings back into action over the Memorial Day weekend with nearly $100,000 prize money on the line. The three day extravaganza spans two states and three venues which provide the fans and drivers a great kickoff to the summer racing season.
Friday, May 25 is the beginning of this huge weekend at Brent Steele’s Skyline Speedway, Stewart, OH. This marks the first ever appearance of the Series at the track and drivers and fans are both eagerly awaiting this stop. The event is dubbed the “Stars and Stripes” 50 paying $5,000 to-win from the $32,700 in posted prize money. Steele, in his second year of operation of the high banked 3/8 mile red-clay oval has made massive improvements to the surface and facilities making it a welcomed place for all the anticipated visitors.
The “Stars and Stripes 50” purse is: 1. $5,000;
2. $3,000; 3. $2,000; 4. $1,500; 5. $1,250; 6. $1,150; 7 $1,050; 8. $1,000 9. $950; 10. $850 11.$750; 12. $650; 13. $575; 14. $550; 15. $525; 16. $520; 17. $515; 18. $510; 19. $505; 20. $500; 21. $500; $500; 22. $500; 23. $500; 24.$500. All drivers who do not transfer to the A Main will receive $125.00. The Series returns later in the Season on Saturday, September 22 for the annual Harvest 50.

Saturday, the MACS brigade marches to the Coleman Families Portsmouth Raceway Park, Portsmouth, OH. Donna Rayburn and Chuck Greenslate direct the promotional efforts at this immaculate facility. Portsmouth is a spacious 3/8 mile, high-banked clay oval residing along the banks of the picturesque Ohio River in historic Portsmouth. This event is also a 50 lap contest paying $5,000 to-win. The purse is: 1. $5,000; 2. $3,000; 3. $2,000; 4. $1,500; 5. $1,250; 6. $1,150; 7 $1,050; 8. $1,000 9. $950; 10. $850 11.$750; 12. $650; 13. $575; 14. $550; 15. $525; 16. $520; 17. $515; 18. $510; 19. $505; 20. $500; 21. $500; $500; 22. $500; 23. $500; 24.$500. Then on Sunday, May 27 the MACS troops role into Dan Russell’s 3/8 mile speed plant known as Central Pennsylvania Speedway, Clearfield, PA, for the third and final leg of the weekend. Bill (Barney) Lyle formerly with the All-Star Circuit of Champions and World of Outlaws Sprint organizations is handling the promotional activities at the track and the entire staff is eagerly awaiting the first appearance of the Series. This well-groomed, gem is also hosting a $5,000 to-win show with a $32,700 purse which is identical to the first two nights of action.

Zion exit. turn right. VERY STEEP GRADE GOING DOWN HILL TO MT ZION EXIT (ABOUT 4 MILES). DON'T GO OVER SPEED LIMIT. ROAD YOU TURN ON FOR MT ZION IS VERY CURVY!!! And from the East: Take exit 120 onto route 879 south to route 322 west, through Clearfield. Exit 322 at Mt Zion, 1 mile to track.
The slate of committed MACS regulars include 2006 MACS Champion, Racin’ Jason Covert; 2005 Champion the “Floodwall Flyer”, Mike Balzano; 2004 and 2002 Champions, the Titusville Terror”, Robbie Blair and the “Flyin’ School Teacher”, Jack Pencil; “Hot Rod” Rod Conley; 2006 and 2005 ROY titlist Nick Dickson and Devin Friese, and Doug Drown, as well as 2007 MACS ROY contenders Matt Lux, Jared Teegarden, Cluck Clise and Dan Stone.
Each regular MACS event consist of AlturnaMats® “Shock the Clock” time trials presented by Sue Stevenson Photography, AlturnaMats® “Dash King” competition presented by WRISCO Aluminum; heats are presented by Bud Watson’s Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic (HTMA) and Hoosier Racing Tires; Lias Tire Racing Division/American Racer; Dave Poske Performance Parts/Hoosier Tire Ohio Valley and Rocket Chassis; ATL Fuel Cells and BERT Transmission; Mason Racin’ and GRT Chassis; Frankland Racing Supply and American Die Cast; King’s Jewelry/Artcarved; Pietragallo, Bosick & Gordon, Corporate Lawyers Pittsburgh and Design 500 Racewear; and the Sunoco Race Fuels 1st B Main presented by Bazell Fuels as well as the Warrior Race Cars 2nd B Main presented by Goddard Performance Parts. Additionally, the MACS ROY chase is presented by Wild Side Custom Racing Trailers determining the ROY title. The MACS Hard Charger is sponsored by WRISCO Aluminum. Other sponsors included Booze Brothers Racing and Country Candles. Lee Havlik’s Chase Decals; (IA) is providing a $100 gift certificate per event for the “Hard Luck” Award. Additionally Chase Decals will be providing $800 gift certificate for the MACS 2007 Champion as well as for the MACS ROY and the driver in the top 10 with the worst luck of the season. Genesis Shocks will be providing over $3,000 worth of gift certificates to the fast qualifiers of five selected events as well as the final top ten in Series points.
Duralite Wheels, (OK) are awarding six new aluminum wheels to drivers in the final top ten of points. Four wheels will be standard late model aluminum wheels while the two will be beadlock wheel. ACPT Carbon Fiber Drive Shafts (CA) will be awarding a new customized carbon fiber drive shaft to one of the drivers in the final top ten of points. Ron “Flea” Fleenor’s Custom Helmet Art (NC) is providing a customized helmet paint job for the champion as well as the MACS ROY.
Jamie Christy’s Impact Graphics (KY) will be picking ten races providing $100 gift certificate for the “Quick Time Award” and if that same driver that sets fast time is able to win that night’s feature s/he will earn an additional $100 gift certificate. Impact will also provide a complete decal job for the 5th place finisher in the final points standings valued at $800 as well as a $250 gift certificate to the 7th place finisher in the final points standings.
