Portsmouth, OH (May 27, 2007) Jackie Boggs put his home town Grayson, KY in victory lane for the second time in as many nights with his $5,000 triumph at the Coleman Familys Portsmouth Raceway Park.
2002 MACS Champion Jack Pencil and Jeremy Miller brought the eager 24-car field to the green with third place starting Boggs darting to the inside of the two leaders to take the lead coming out of turn two. As Boggs swept into turn three, Pencil and Miller continued to run side-by-side for the second position.
Boggs was setting a blistering pace until the first of five caution flags flew as Steve Casebolt slowed in turn two on lap four. When racing resumed Boggs quickly pulled away from the field while Rod Conley battled with Miller for the second position. Boggs continued to hold a commanding lead until the field was slowed on the 13th lap when 2005 MACS Champion Mike Balzano slowed to a stop in turn four.
When racing resumed Boggs continued to lead the 50-lap main event as ninth starting R.J. Conley and 2006 MACS Champion Jason Covert finessed their way into the top five. After two more caution flags, Boggs was able to take advantage of the single file restarts and hold his lead while the rest of the field battled for position.
On lap 28 the race was slowed for the final time when local favorite Ben Adkins came rolling to a stop for a flat tire. When the field went back to green flag action Boggs was still at the point with the Conley brothers in tow and Covert on the move from his 15th starting position. Boggs entered lapped traffic with Rod quickly gaining ground while the laps wound down.
Conley pulled to within four car lengths of the race leader while R.J. had his hands full with Covert for third. R.J. and Covert battled door handle to door handle for the final four laps with Covert sliced his way past R.J. at the line behind race winner Boggs and runner-up Rod Conley. R.J. Conley was credited with fourth and Pencil fifth. Rounding out the top ten were 2004 MACS Champion Robbie Blair, 2006 World of Outlaws RoYEAR Eddie Carrier Jr., Josh McGuire, Mike Marlar (from 19th), and Jim Bernheisel
