Mid-Atlantic Championship Series Announces its Initial 2008 Schedule |

Indiana, PA ( February 2, 2008 ) The Mid-Atlantic Championship Series would like to announce their preliminary 2008 schedule. The series will open their 12th season on Saturday, April 12th with the ‘Western Maryland Open 50’ at Rick and Ernie Jones Oval Track Promotions event at ‘The Rock, Allegany County Speedway, Cumberland , MD. From there the tour will then head to Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway, Jamaica, VA, on Saturday, June 14, for the $7,000 to-win ‘Summer Sizzler II’. The following weekend the series travelers will return to Hartford , OH and Sharon Speedway on Saturday, June 21 for the $5,000 to-win ‘Triton 50’. The next night, Sunday, June 22 is another $5,000 to win, show dubbed the “ Lake Erie 50” at Bobby Rohrer’s Eriez Speedway.
The series will spend their Independence Day weekend at the Coleman Families Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth , OH for two separate one day shows. The opener on Friday, July 4 will be a $5,000 to-win event. Then on Saturday, July 5 will be a $10,000 to-win show. The MACS contingent will make their second visit to Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway on Saturday, August 9 for the Ernie Shelton’s 29th Annual ‘USA 100®’. This year the ‘ USA 100®’ will have a bit of a twist as the MACS Super Late Models will go “Topless” for the $10,000 top prize. This unique event which features $1,000 to-win, twin 25-lap qualifying events in addition to the 50-lap finale is being co-sanctioned with the Carolina Clash Series. One driver has the opportunity to claim $11,000 for the night.
After a successful first visit in 2007, the series will return to Jeff Norris’ Hilltop Speedway, Millersburg , OH for the first of two visits in ’08 on Saturday, August 22 for a $5,000 to- win show. Then on the Series travels to Don Martin’s Lernerville Speedway, Sarver , PA on Friday, August 29 for the ‘Cleveland Brothers CAT, Jim Shank Memorial 50 presented by DirtTrackDigest.com. This year the event posts $7,000 to-win show. Tickets for that event can purchased online at www.lernerville.com. The next night, Saturday, August 30, the series will make a return to Ryan and Gina Lynn’s Hesston Speedway, Hesston, PA for the ‘MACS Attack IV’ 50-lap, $5,000 to win show.
Hilltop Speedway will then welcome back the series on Saturday, September 27, for the second time in 2008 with another $5,000 to-win show. The season will come to a close on Friday and Saturday, October 3 & 4 at the Jones brothers ‘The Rock’ Allegany County Speedway for the ‘Big Kahuna VIII’. This year’s version will be a $12,000 to-win two-day event. Jeff Geesey, Series Event Coordinator commented, "More events will be added as we go through the rest of the late winter months and early spring.”
