Mid-Atlantic Championship Series Adds Tour Date at Bedford Speedway

Indiana, PA (April 24, 2008) The Mid-Atlantic Championship Series is pleased to announce another date to their 2008 docket at Keifer Motorsports’ Bedford Speedway, Bedford, PA. “Promoters J.R. Keifer, Dr. David Horne, and Jim Maybury have long been supporters of the Series, and have been for months, looking for the ideal location to slot the Series into their big 2008 schedule. We are excited to be returning to this great 5/8 mile fairgrounds facility. J.R., Jim, and Dave, have always been strong supporters since taking over the Speedway and we are extremely pleased that we have a solid race date with them on a great weekend for racing,” indicated Series Event Coordinator Jeff Geesey.

The new addition is on Sunday, May 25, and is dubbed the ‘Late Model Spring Championship’ paying $5,000 to-win from the $30,000 in posted prizes and awards. The ‘Late Model Spring Championship’ will be a full MACS program including AlturnaMATS® Time Trails, Heats, the Sunoco Race Fuels B Main presented by Bazell Oil, the Keizer Wheels 2nd B Main presented by Big Shot Performance, as well as the “Spring Championship” 50 lap finale.

Geesey continued, “The schedule is not complete either. We are still working on filling in the ‘TBA’s’ that are listed on our current schedule offering. Additionally we are working on a couple of other events that are not listed, and hopefully soon we will have full commitment from the facilities to complete the scheduling process.”

The purse for the “Spring Championship” is: 1. $5,000; 2. $3,000; 3. $2,000; 4. $1,500; 5. $1,250; 6. $1,100; 7 $1,050; 8. $1,000 9. $850; 10. $700 11.$600; 12. $575; 13. $550; 14. $525; 15. $500; 16. $475; 17. $450; 18. $425; 19-24. $400. All drivers who do not transfer to the A Main receive $100.00 in tow money.

In less than three weeks MACS returns to action on Sunday, May 11th at Gina and Ryan Lynn’s Hesston Speedway, Hesston, PA for the postponed $5,000 to-win ‘Ice Breaker 50’. The “Ice Breaker 50” also carries a well balanced $30,000 purse that rewards competitors throughout the entire field. “As an organization, we feel that it is important to have a well balanced and distributed purse so that all competitors can share in it,” indicated Geesey. “Purses that are top heavy, with steep declines between positions do not accomplish that objective. Promoters that have MACS events share that same vision and goal; therefore, sustaining the drivers that support their show. Without drivers, fans can’t enjoy their favorite form of entertainment, short track Late Model Racing,” concluded Geesey.
