MACS Attack Pennsylvania ’s Lernerville and Hesston in August

Indiana, PA (August 5, 2008) The Mid-Atlantic Championship Series looks to finish August in their home state of Pennsylvania with back-to-back events at Don Martin’s Lernerville Speedway, Sarver and Ryan and Gina Lynn’s Hesston Speedway, Hesston. Friday, August 29 Gary Risch, Jr. welcomes the series to Lernerville for the Cleveland Brothers CATAPILER ‘Jim Shank Memorial’ presented by Potoka Trucking and Repair followed by Saturday, August 30 show at the Lynn’s Hesston Speedway for the ‘Big MACS Attack IV’. The Series returns to the half-mile Hesston high banks after a year hiatus and two previous attempts in 2008. The Cleveland Brothers CAT ‘Jim Shank Memorial’ presented by Potoka Trucking and Repair will pay $7,000 to win and will have a $32,000 total purse as the ‘Big MACS Attack IV’ event will carry a $30,000 purse and pay $5,000 to winner.

Both events will feature a full MACS program including AlturnaMATS® Time Trails presented by JNJ Motorsports Media, Heats, the Sunoco Race Fuels B Main presented by Bazell Oil, the Keizer Wheels 2nd B Main presented by Big Shot Performance, and 50 lap A-Main’s.

The Cleveland Brothers CAT ‘Jim Shank Memorial’ presented by Potoka Trucking and Repair honors the memory of one of Lernerville’s biggest fans and loyal patron, Jim Shank. Jim was also a die hard fan of National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame member and former two time MACS Champion, Lynn Geisler. “I’m extremely touched that Lernerville General Manager Gary Risch and Jeff (Geesey) would have this event honoring my dad,” commented Jim’s son, Jason Shank. Shank continued, “This August show at Lernerville with MACS as well as the All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprints was one of my dad’s favorite events and my family and I are just tickled for all of this to work out. I need to thank Cleveland Brothers CAT, Don Gamble and Rappin’ on Racin’, Edge Racing Engines, Trafford Corporation, JNJ Motorsports Media, and of course Potoka Trucking & Repair, and #1 Cochran Automotive ($500 Fast Time Award) for stepping up to the plate to add the cream on the top of this show. Without the support of great businesses like these we couldn’t have elevated this to a $7,000 to win event,” concluded Shank

Past MACS winners at Lernerville include former MACS Champion Mike Blose (‘01); David Scott (’02); Alex Ferree (’03); and Chub Frank (’04, ’05, ’06). Mike Balzano squeezed in a victory during his championship year in 2005.

Past event winners at Hesston include Bart Hartman and Mike Balzano in ’05 and Jason Covert in ’06. The average car count for the three previous events at Hesston has been 42.

2006 and 2007 MACS Champion, Racin’ Jason Covert; the ‘02 Series Champion “Flyin’ School Teacher”, Jack Pencil; ‘07 Lernerville Champion Alex Ferree; ‘06 and ‘07 ROY titlist’s Nick Dickson and Matt Lux, Bruceton Mills, WV’s, Doug Horton; Frostburg, MD’s Chuck Clise, Lewistown, PA’s Waylon Wagner, as well as 2008 MACS ROY contenders Michael Altobelli, Jr. Thomas Baker, Ron Delano, Coleby Frye, Russell King, Donald Lingo, Jr. and Tony Lombardi are all expected to be in attendance for both events as well as many of western and central PA’s best including the likes of former Lernerville and MACS Champion’s Lynn Geisler and Mike Blose, former MACS Rookie of the Year Keith Barbara, former MACS winner’s John Flinner, David Scott, Dutch Davies, and Ron Davies and Lernerville regulars like Gary Lyle, Gregg Satterlee, Sam Stile, Chuck Kennedy, John Mollick, and Clate Copeman. Hesston will bring in a variety of racers from all over the region including drivers from western and central PA, Maryland , and possibly from as far away as Delaware .

August 29th: Lernerville’s pit gate will open at 4:00pm with grandstand gates opening at 5:00pm. Driver’s meeting will be held at 6:30 with hot laps beginning around 6:45 and Time Trials at 7:15. All drivers who do not transfer to the A Main will receive $100.00.
